An addon worthy of a mention!
This is the mission pack to the sequal of the inovative Hidden and Dangerous game. Unlike the original, H&D2 didn't ship with a COOP mode, which at the time disappointed fans of the originals COOP mode, despite its bugs. Fortunately, the games creators have added COOP mode to the game with this addon. However they decided against tweaking the original levels of H&D2 to be played COOP. What they gave us was an highly adaptably and well constructed game mode though with only 9 levels. Despite this draw back they have created possibly one of the best COOP games ever
A brief premise of the game is as follows, you have a squad of commandos in a WW2 secanrio where you are given a long regin of freedom to complete your tasks. The game is played 3D first person or in Third person. Each COOP player takes on the role of a Soldier who you can customise before joining the game. If you don't like the gear that you have spawned into the game with you can search and take items from fallen soldiers, even their hats.
The missions you are given are varried and how you go about them is your buisness. Missions like, rescuing downed pilots and defending bridges against the enemy. Although the maps may seem small by todays standards you are never short of space to try many different tactics and approaches.
During the game you never feel compleltely dominant over the enemy, as is the case in some games. This makes COOP play so fun and eventful. You really have to communicate and work together to attack, ambush or defend. The game creators were good enough to have an inbuilt voice comms function built into the game to make comms easier with people in public servers.
You'll find many of those special game moments as you play COOP. Moments like the time your squad scarpers as the shutters on the first floor of the house infornt burst open and a german gunner gives it what for. The COOP setup also allow you to assign an ammount of lives for respawn for the team. So an inexperienced player may take most of the lives from the live pool. This addition makes COOP games accessible. Theres nothing more frustrating than starting a game like Raven Shield or SWAT4, getting killed at the beginning and having to wait till the round end.
